 “Fun Raiser” Competitive Team Registration

Catholic Olympics Registration:

  1. Competitors can compete on a team (register below), an individual seeking to be placed on a team (register below) or as an individual (register on the day of the event).
  2. One registration per team should be entered by the Team Captain.
  3. Participants can compete without registering, but they will not be in the running for prizes and will compete after registered competitors and as judge and event coordinator time allows.

Competition Times

Competitors will compete from 10:30am-12:00pm, and then from 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Catholic Olympic Individual Awards:
Individual awards and team points will be conferred for each event.  Individual awards include:

  1. Participant – Catholic sacramentals
  2. 3rd place – St. Michael Archangel Medal
  3. 2nd place – Miraculous Medal
  4. 1st place – Sacred Heart of Jesus Medal

Catholic Olympic Team Awards:

  1. Grand Prize/1st Place – Denver Zoo Family Plus Membership (All family plus 1 guest each visit) $235/year,  Denver Museum of Nature and Science (2 adults plus their own children) $119/year, $140 cash for gas, parking, and food OR Water World passes for Summer 2023 value not to exceed $499.99
  2. 2nd Place – 2 adult and 8 kids weekend day pass to Water World Summer 2023 – $411.90
  3. 3rd Place – dinner, adoration, and evening prayer with Father Wedow (you have to eat his food).  Includes all team members!

Catholic Olympic Scoring:
Each event requires that the captain pick the team members that he wants to compete (that he thinks will score the highest for a particular event and that meet the limits of competitors for the event)

  1. The captain registers their team to compete ahead of time, and communicates changes to the event judge
  2. The event judge will set up scoring for both individuals and the team for the round of competition.  The event judge will review the rules with the competitors, and then will signal the start of the competition.
  3. Scoring points – points awarded for the event include: best individual and best team – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.  Point are used to determine who has won an event both individually and as a team.

Team Scoring Criteria

Competitors will be awarded points according to their competitor class which is defined below.  For category 1 and 3, competitors can score points for both winning and completing an event.

Competitor Class 1 – Children birth through 12 years old as of January 1st of the current liturgical year

Points for Top 3 Winners – 15 points for 1st, 10 points for 2nd place, 5 points for 3rd place.

Completion Points – completion points will be increased as age decreases and are awarded when a child completes the event on their own accord (for example a 1 year old that finishes an event will score 12 points, a 3 year old that finishes an event will score 10 points, and a 12 year old who finishes the event will score 1 point).

Competitor Class 2 – Youth and Adults 13 years old through 69 as of January 1st of the current liturgical  year

Points for Top 3 Winners – 15 points for 1st, 10 points for 2nd place, 5 points for 3rd place.

Completion Points – n/a

Competitor Class 3 – Adults 70 years and older

Points for Top 3 Winners – 15 points for 1st, 10 points for 2nd place, 5 points for 3rd place.

Completion Points – Completion points will increase by increments of .5 beginning at .5 points for a 70 year old

Judges discretion – “Bonus Points” awarded for people with disabilities

Judges points – go towards qualifying for finals, 1 point – 3rd place, 2 point  – 2nd place, 3 point – 1st place

Catholic Olympic Team Qualifications:

  1. Maximum of 4 adults (adults is defined as anyone 13 or older, parents, grandparents, singles, aunts, uncles) and their biological children or a maximum of 4 children (for example, a family of two parents and five children can form a team with another family who has two parents and ten kids, and they would all be one team. Another example, 4 single adults can form a team with 4 unrelated children).   All adult members must be a registered parishioner at one of the local parishes.  Each team will be recognized for their placement in the Olympics.
  2. Can you have a team of just children? no, because of the prize involved
  3. Can you have a team of just adults? yes, but it will be harder to score the maximum points
  4. Must have a Catholic Saint Name
  5. All members must be registered under the one Saint Name
  6. Each competitor can only compete on one team
  7. Each team must have a captain who is an adult

  • Eucharistic History TImeline Race

    All team members are automatically enrolled in this event! Competing teams follow clues and geographic coordinates to discover the Eucharistic History Timeline. When they arrive at a destination they must take a picture of the entire team there and text it to a judging panel. Once they have finished the course, they must return with the pieces of the timeline that they have found and assemble them in proper order to finish the race

A military style fitness course which includes: running through baptismal waters/sprinklers representing being born again from above (John 3:3-5), clinging to the vine/walking along a chalk line (John 15:5), belly crawl through the gate that is Jesus a hula hoop (John 10:9), sliding down a slip-n-slide to “go to Jesus” (John 6:68), trying to hit the “Jesus” target on a Velcro cart board other representing the jews quarreling among themselves, walking away, and murmuring (John 6:52), climbing over a large bale of hay representing being raised on the last day (John 6:54), potato sack race representing remaining in him (John 6:56)

  • Spread the Good News

    All team members compete in this event. Teams compete in a game of volleyball spreading the good news by volleying the ball back and forth. Teams score points for each volley returned by the other team.
